Chief Executive Officer & Director
Ed Bacome has over 40 years of experience in property management, construction, operations, and development. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from The Ohio State University. He is a licensed real estate broker. Mr. Bacome supports many non-profit organizations within the community including the Columbus Foundation and The Ohio State University. He is also on the Board of Directors for Benchmark Bank.
President & Director
Phil Fankhauser has been involved in commercial and residential development for over 40 years with emphasis on strategic planning, land acquisition, and marketing. He has a B.S. degree in Business and is also a licensed real estate broker. Mr. Fankhauser is a graduate of Franklin University and currently serves on Franklin University’s Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Senior Housing Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
President, Epcon Communities Franchising
Paul Hanson was appointed President of Epcon Communities Franchising in 2018 and has been involved in the building industry since 2003, serving in various capacities in construction and operations. Prior to joining Epcon, he served as Group Vice President at Arthur Rutenberg Homes, where he led that company’s expansion and development into a six-state Midwestern market. Prior to that, he was with NVR for over ten years in leadership roles in both Ohio and Florida. Paul is a graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania and earned his MBA from the University of Florida in 2009.
Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer
Dave Blackmore has over 40 years of experience in real estate development and property management. Mr. Blackmore has been the Treasurer and CFO of Epcon Communities since 2005. In 2010, Mr. Blackmore received CFO of the Year, Honorable Mention from Business First Magazine. Mr. Blackmore holds a BSBA from The Ohio State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has held Board Treasurer positions with Huckleberry House and Lutheran Social Services.
Regional President (Columbus), General Counsel and Secretary
Joel Rhoades has over 20 years of experience in land acquisition, real estate development & sales, and property management. Mr. Rhoades has been with Epcon Communities’ as General Counsel since 1992. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from The Ohio State University. Mr. Rhoades currently is a director and president elect of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio.
Regional President (Charlotte)
Bob Kardos has 34 years of experience in all aspects of residential home building including land acquisition, land development, purchasing, sales & marketing, vertical construction, customer service and operations management/profitability. Bob holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to Epcon Communities, Bob worked with several Top 10 National Home Builders including Ryan Homes, M/I Homes and Toll Brothers in a variety of leadership positions. Bob joined the Epcon Communities leadership team as Regional President in November of 2016 and leads the Charlotte, NC region.
Regional President (Raleigh)
Tom Sewitsky has over 25 years of multi-faceted homebuilding experience with both public and privately owned companies. Mr. Sewitsky has been with Epcon Communities since December of 2017 and has held positions in executive leadership in the Raleigh and Charlotte markets since 2005. He has served on the Durham, Orange, and Chatham County HBA Board of Directors, and was recognized as one of the top 200 Division Presidents in the country by Homebuilder Executive Magazine. Sewitsky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Towson University.
J. Timothy Rini, Jr.
Vice President, Product Development
Tim Rini is an Ohio registered architect with NCARB certification and, prior to joining Epcon, has over 30 year’s experience in real estate development, home building, and commercial construction and estimating. Mr. Rini joined Epcon Franchising in 2007 and became Vice President of Franchising in 2011. Rini earned his MBA from Xavier University, a BS in Architecture from The Ohio State University, and has completed post-graduate studies in real estate and public policy at Ohio State and the University of Akron. Mr. Rini is also an Ohio licensed real estate Broker and has owned his own brokerage firm and property management company. Tim has served as President and Board member of the Columbus Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, a Board member of the local home building association, a full member of the Urban Land Institute, a member on NAHB’s 50+ Housing Council, a member of the American Marketing Association, and is a candidate for the CFE designation with the International Franchise Association. As an undergraduate, Tim was Squad Leader in the OSU Marching Band and participates in the Alumni Reunion each year.
Vice President, Sales
Nanette Overly has over 30 years of experience in the home-building industry. Ms. Overly has been with Epcon Communities since May 2000 and has been the Vice President of Sales since January 2007. Ms. Overly has been a nationally featured speaker and contributing writer with various home builder conventions and publications.
Vice President, Marketing
Rob Krohn has 20+ years of experience leading marketing, advertising and lead generation strategies. As the vice president of marketing for Epcon, Rob oversees strategy and execution for all company marketing initiatives. He also serves as a consultant to Epcon’s national network of Franchise Builders. Prior to his current position, Rob oversaw brand management and marketing for Assurex Global, HSG/CodeBlue and HTP (acquired by McKesson). Rob holds a BFA from The University of Akron. Rob speaks frequently at industry conferences on topics such as traditional and digital lead generation, lead conversion techniques, marketing technology, as well as virtual and augmented reality.
