Allison Moore’s journey into home building is more than a career—it’s a legacy.
As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Twentieth Century Construction, Allison carries forward the family tradition of quality construction and innovation.
A Lifelong Passion for Construction
Twentieth Century Construction was founded by Allison’s parents in 1981. She spent her childhood on job sites. “I always loved it,” Allison shares. “Even today, walking into a new construction site, the smell of it is something that I’ve always really loved.”
Though her career initially took her to corporate America, her love for construction eventually brought her back to the family business.
Finding the Right Fit with Epcon Franchising
When the families Twentieth Century Construction had served decades earlier began returning, seeking homes with single-story living, Allison and her team saw an opportunity.
“As we did our due diligence, we considered working with an architect to design these homes ourselves,” Allison explains. “Then we came across Epcon. We loved that everything was tried and true. For 35 years, they’ve been perfecting their floor plans and options. It’s exactly what these empty nesters are looking for.”
Twentieth Century Construction is selling in their first Epcon community in Cleveland, The Villas at Canterwood Farms. The development includes 59 homes, a clubhouse, an outdoor pool and a fitness center. “The response has been incredible,” Allison notes. “This first project is in our hometown, which makes it even more special.”
From Custom to Production: Embracing Change
Transitioning from custom home building back to production has been a shift for Twentieth Century Construction.
“When my parents built many homes a year, it was easier to be a production builder,” Allison recalls. “Custom building, on the other hand, often involves extensive back-and-forth with clients wanting to move walls or change designs.”
With Epcon’s thoughtfully designed floor plans, however, buyers are impressed and willing to stick with the standard layouts. “That speaks volumes about the quality and functionality of these designs,” Allison adds.
In Cleveland, buyers are seeking functional, open living spaces. Many are downsizing from larger homes with multiple floors. “It’s funny,” Allison says. “They walk in and think it seems small. But when we talk about what rooms they actually use, they realize this is all the space they need.”
Advice for Aspiring Franchise Builders
For builders considering an Epcon Franchise, Allison’s advice is simple: “Just do it. The assets available to you are unmatched. And don’t hesitate to lean into the help Epcon provides. They’re there to support you every step of the way.”
What excites Allison most is the uniqueness of the product and the positive response from buyers. “This product is so unique in our area. People are really excited about it,” she says. “It’s for posterity. These communities will be one-of-a-kind, and that makes it all worthwhile.”
