From Custom Homes to Community Growth: Stoneshire Builders’ Journey with Epcon

When Brian and Debra Eiseman of Stoneshire Builders visited Epcon Communities’ headquarters in Columbus, they didn’t just gather information, they made a decision.

Within two days, they joined the Epcon Franchising network, setting a new course for their home building business.

Building from the Ground Up

Unlike many home builders, Brian and Debra didn’t start their careers in residential construction. Brian spent 25 years as a civil engineer, working alongside developers and gaining firsthand exposure to land development and construction. Debra built her career in finance as a commercial lender, partnering with entrepreneurs and understanding the financial side of business growth.

Together, their complementary backgrounds created a strong foundation for launching Stoneshire Builders in 2012. But without prior home building experience, everything they built—systems, plans and processes—had to be created from scratch.

“It’s been a learning experience,” Brian shared. “We developed everything on our own. We didn’t have that institutional knowledge to tap into.”

Why Epcon? A Strategic Shift Toward Efficiency

As their business evolved, so did their goals. While they had experience serving the active adult home buyer market through custom homes, they were ready to take the next step in developing a community.

But they knew they didn’t want to start over again.

“This wasn’t something we wanted to learn on our own,” Brian said. “We wanted to tap into that institutional knowledge from someone that had done this before.”

Epcon offered exactly that: a proven model, established systems and decades of expertise. For the Eiseman’s, it was an opportunity to move from building one-off homes to creating a repeatable, scalable process.

Discovering the Depth of the Epcon Network

One of the biggest surprises for the Eiseman’s was the breadth of knowledge within the Epcon team.

On the sales side, Debra was struck by the level of expertise and support available. Brian echoed that sentiment, noting the depth of specialization across the organization.

“The number of people with individual roles that all bring extensive knowledge in that particular area—that really stood out,” he said.

This built in support system gave them confidence as they prepared to launch their first Epcon community.

A New Community Rooted in Natural Beauty

The Eiseman’s are already moving forward with their first Epcon community, Meadowlark Crossing in Bismarck, North Dakota. Their community is located on the edge of city limits, offering a balance of accessibility and natural surroundings.

Rolling hills, open meadows and seasonal springs create a peaceful setting and one that aligns perfectly with the lifestyle Epcon communities are known for.

“In the summertime you can hear the birds singing… it just feels peaceful,” Debra shared.

A Natural Fit for Future Growth

For Brian and Debra Eiseman, joining the Epcon network represents more than a business decision, it’s a strategic move toward long-term growth, efficiency and scalability.

By combining their backgrounds in engineering and finance with Epcon’s proven systems and support, they’re positioned to build not just homes, but thriving communities.

As they begin this next chapter, one thing is clear: they’re no longer building from scratch, they’re building with a blueprint for growth.
